It’s no secret—we’re big fans of all things cheese around here. So when April 12 rolls around, you better believe we’re celebrating National Grilled Cheese Day in the most delicious way possible. Besides our beloved macaroni and cheese, the ooey-gooey, golden-crisp goodness of a grilled cheese sandwich ranks high on our list of favorite comfort foods—for both kiddos and grownups!

Make it a fun family night with a Grilled Cheese Bar at home! Set out ingredients and let everyone build their own custom sandwich. Then, do a taste test and vote on the most creative, cheesiest, or crispiest combo!

Ideas for your grilled cheese bar:

  • Breads: sourdough, white, wheat, ciabatta
  • Cheeses: cheddar, American, mozzarella, pepper jack, brie

Easy Classic Grilled Cheese Recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 slices of your favorite cheese
  • 1–2 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice (butter-side-down) in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add cheese, then top with the second slice (butter-side-up).
  4. Grill until golden brown on both sides and the cheese is melted—about 3–4 minutes per side.

Serve with tomato soup or sliced apples for a perfect meal!
